Spring 2024!

My Dearest Evan,

How has time moved so quickly?! I know I'm a little late as quarterly posts go - I just can't seem to keep up! You, however, are go-go-going in everything you do!

You're a week and a half away from finishing Kindergarten! You know cursive, addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20, some of your money (we need to work on this), and you know how to read!!! You love art and say you want to become "a famous arter"! This is why you're doing the Art Project Week at school and you'll be going to art camp in June!

You're playing coach pitch baseball and because you told Dad he's your favorite coach, he's the head coach of your team! While Dad enjoys being there to coach you and your team (and in my opinion, he's very good at it), coach pitch can be very stressful (it's a sinking feeling when you strike your own team out). Your team grows better and better with each game and practice and you can really tell it! Some of your teammates struggle with hanging in there for the full hour of the game but you are a trooper. You really wanted to be catcher this season so Dad bought you some gear and you've practices putting it on and taking it off fast and you're really good at stopping the balls. You've also learned to pick the ball up fast and touch home to get an out! You're definitely a solid player on the team and you're so handsome while you do it (Mom swoon)!

I got you a used drum to see how you handle that, thinking it might be something else you're into. Pop played the drums when he was a kid. You're also really into hockey right now - you've been practicing roller skating really hard and you have a street hockey stick and goal. Dad plays with you in the street sometimes. And we sent you to a one-time hockey goalie camp at the TCC - they let you borrow all of their gear and you got to go out on the ice and experience what it's like to be a goalie! You were the smallest one there but everyone who is normally on the team was very welcoming to you and helped you out.

We have only taken one trip so far this year: over Rodeo we went to Universal Studios in LA. We also hit up an LA Kings hockey game (and saw Will Ferrel there) and we went to a USWNL soccer game there. For a long weekend, we sure did fit a lot in!

You have started liking Imagine Dragons and you turn your radio onto the country station, just like your sister, when you go to bed. You've lost TWO teeth recently and when I told you that meant you really have to stop sucking your thumb now, YOU DID! I can't believe it, Evan, you really did it! There is a rare occassion when you're sleeping and you'll put your thumb in your mouth but that's it! I'm so proud of you! You like watching the Little Rascals right now and you'll pretty much only cuddle with me if it's right after you've woken up for the day (Dad gets cuddles at night).

Here's your life in pictures right now...

Oh my love, I love watching you learn (and you learn so very fast). You're learning your emotions and you and Avery may be having more fights right now but it's all teaching you and teaching Dad and me about your personalities and how they are growing all the time.

Coming up, you have art camp, visiting a beach house with my family, and then you'll tag along to San Diego for Avery's soccer camp. You'll also get a week in there with just you and Dad - so likely some special activities then too!

I love watching you grow and I live for those morning cuddle sessions.

All My Love,

Mom

New Year, New Adventures!
