My Dearest Evan,
I know I just wrote in May so this post may be shorter than other posts but I wanted to get back to the routine of writing at the beginning of each quarter. Also, there's been SO MUCH happening!
You wrapped up May with the end of baseball season and the end of your Kindergarten year. You did the art project week so you brought home loads of artwork for us to admire. Then you immediately went into a Harry Potter art camp week where you really impressed us with your skills - you were hesitant about the camp at first but you wound up having loads of fun! You also took a short trip with Dad over to Roswell to visit Grandma Gail! At the end of June, we took a family trip to Port Aransas, TX with my side of the family. You affectionately refer to it as the trip with the house with the elevator in it! We all stayed in a lovely house next to the beach and you got some much needed cousin time. Along the way, you've really upped your game on your skateboard so we got you some lessons and you're doing really well, spending up to 90 minutes on your board at a time (if we let you, even in the summer heat). This is also the first summer where I've felt comfortable watching you swim from the side of the pool instead of feeling like I have to be in the pool all the time. You're growing up so fast!
You don't really like to cuddle with me except when you wake up in the morning - you still want up on my lap to cuddle for a minute before asking for chocolate milk and cartoons. I really cherish those times because I know the days are numbered :( You've decided you don't like to read so that's a struggle but we'll get there. You cuddle with Dad on the couch sometimes right before bed and you adore and look up to your sister, although you'd never admit it. You have chores, including feeding and brushing Pascal, cleaning your room and putting away your laundry and you get paid for them.
School starts in less than a month but before then, you're heading today with Dad and Avery to Carlsbad, CA for a San Diego Wave soccer camp (you're not going to camp - you'll get some father/son time while Avery does that) - and then you'll come back to a rock climbing camp and a golf camp for yourself!
Here's your life in pictures right now...

Evan, you can sometimes drive me crazy with your never-ending "Mom....Mom....Mom...." but I miss it terribly when I'm not with you. I love everything about you - and can't wait to start a new school year with you!
All My Love,
Mom
